Dukkah

Dukkah – A Crunchy, Aromatic Middle Eastern Spice Blend 🌰🌿

Dukkah is a traditional Middle Eastern condiment that beautifully combines nuts, seeds, and aromatic spices into a versatile, nutrient-dense blend. Originating from Egypt, this humble yet flavour-packed mix is typically used for dipping bread or fresh vegetables into olive oil, sprinkling over salads, or seasoning roasted meats and grains. Its rich, crunchy texture and warm, nutty aroma make it a pantry staple for anyone who loves bold, wholesome flavours.

At its heart, dukkah is as nourishing as it is delicious. Nuts like hazelnuts, almonds, or pistachios provide healthy fats, protein, and essential minerals such as magnesium and zinc, which support energy, brain function, and immunity. Seeds like sesame, coriander, or cumin add further antioxidants, fibre, and phytonutrients that promote gut health and digestion. Spices bring depth of flavour while offering subtle anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits, creating a blend that delights the senses and nourishes the body.

One of the best things about dukkah is its versatility. You can dip crusty bread into olive oil and then into dukkah for a quick snack, sprinkle it over avocado toast or roasted vegetables for added texture and flavour, or use it as a seasoning for chicken, fish, or eggs. Homemade dukkah is simple to prepare, allowing you to experiment with different nuts, seeds, and spices to suit your taste preferences.

Dukkah is more than just a seasoning — it’s a celebration of flavour, culture, and nutrition, making everyday meals feel special while boosting their healthful benefits. Whether you’re a foodie, a home cook, or someone seeking nutrient-rich ways to enhance your dishes, dukkah is a must-have in your kitchen.

Dukkah, is a traditional Egyptian blend of nuts, seeds, and warm spices. It’s been around since the age of ancient Egypt, but it is now widely popular throughout the Middle East and the world (you may have even found a little jar of it at your local grocery store).  It is fantastic on a picnic platter (dip bread in olive oil and then the dukkah) or used to flavour crumbs for fish or meat.
